Healing Veterans
Through the Power of the Drum
Warrior Beat delivers evidence-informed drum therapy to U.S. Military Veterans — at VA Medical Centers nationwide, in communities, and in homes — through the Warrior Beat method of drumming.
Veterans Healing
Veterans
Warrior Beat is a Veteran-founded, Veteran-operated 501(c)3 nonprofit. We use professionally facilitated group drumming to help U.S. Military Veterans heal from PTSD, anxiety, depression, isolation, and substance abuse — at no cost to Veterans.
Founded in 2015 by former Navy Corpsman and 30-year drummer Trevor Meyer, Warrior Beat has grown from a single drum circle in Ohio to a nationally recognized program operating across the United States. In 2019, the VA formally adopted the Warrior Beat methodology and began implementing it in hospitals across the country.

The Warrior Beat
Protocol
Developed by Trevor Meyer — a former Navy Corpsman and 30-year professional drummer — the Warrior Beat Protocol is the only Veteran-specific drum therapy methodology in the United States.
Group drumming focuses attention and entrains brainwave activity, leading to the alleviation of severe anxiety, depression, and other symptoms associated with PTSD and substance abuse recovery. It also helps control chronic pain and boosts immune systems — creating measurable mental and physical benefits.
Group drumming in a structured, safe environment led by a Warrior Beat-certified facilitator.
Veterans express and release emotions through rhythm — no music experience required.
Post-drum discussion moderated by the facilitator builds community and supports processing.
Veterans receive a drum and field guide to continue the healing process between sessions.
Trevor Meyer
“Drumming is a powerful form of nonverbal communication that allows us to express the deepest of emotions.”
Trevor Meyer is a former U.S. Navy Corpsman, a lifelong drummer, and the Founder and CEO of Warrior Beat. After serving as an Intensive Care Specialist at Naval Hospital Okinawa, Trevor dedicated his career to using the healing power of music and rhythm to serve the Veterans he once served alongside in uniform.
Trevor created the Warrior Beat Protocol for Drum Therapy — the only Veteran-specific drum therapy methodology in the United States — and has trained over 350 facilitators at VA Medical Centers from Ohio to Oregon.
